Healthgrades Recognizes Coordinated Health Hospitals For Achievements in Patient Safety, Patient Experience and Total Hip Replacement
Bethlehem, Pa., (April 25, 2017) – Coordinated Health, a specialized hospital and health network with locations throughout eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey, announced today that its hospitals have been nationally recognized for three distinctions of quality excellence and safety by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals.
“We applaud recipients for their commitment to delivering high-quality care, while reducing patient safety events and providing a safe and positive experience for patients during their hospital stay,” said Dr. Brad Bowman, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades.
Coordinated Health’s Bethlehem Hospital (CH Hospital Bethlehem) received the Healthgrades 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ and the Healthgrades 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award™. Only 95 out of the 2,932 hospitals evaluated for patient safety and patient experience achieved both distinctions. In addition, Coordinated Health’s Allentown Hospital (CH Hospital Allentown) received prior recognition as a 2017 Healthgrades Five-Star Recipient for Total Hip Replacement. Both Coordinated Health hospitals have alternately achieved Healthgrades Patient Safety Excellence Awards and Outstanding Patient Experience Awards over the past five years.
“Our hospital teams truly are exceptional at working together across the continuum of care to deliver the highest quality outcome for our patients,” said Coordinated Health Chief Executive Officer Dr. Emil DiIorio. “I applaud their relentless dedication to patients, which earned them this well-deserved recognition.”
During the study period (2013-2015), Healthgrades 2017 Patient Safety Excellence Award recipient hospitals demonstrated excellent performance in safety provided for patients in the Medicare population, as measured by objective outcomes (risk-adjusted patient safety indicator rates) for 13 patient safety indicators defined by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
Healthgrades evaluated hospital performance for the 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award by applying a scoring methodology to 10 patient experience measures, using data collected from a 32-question patient experience survey of the hospital’s own patients. The survey questions focus on topics ranging from cleanliness and noise levels in patient rooms to factors such as pain management and responsiveness to patients’ needs.
