Dickson City, Pa. (June 22, 2017) – Coordinated Health (CH) announced last week that Dickson City-based Scranton Orthopaedic Specialists has signed an agreement to become part of the CH family, with an anticipated closing date of September 1, 2017.

“Our teams are very excited to join the Coordinated Health family,” said SOS President Dr. Chris Metzger. “Lackawanna County only stands to gain from the shared knowledge of our organizations who will join forces through this agreement.”

Coordinated Health is based in the Greater Lehigh Valley, but it is not new to the Northeastern Pennsylvania market. CH currently operates campuses in Hazleton and Pittston, with construction underway for a campus at Humboldt Station, an industrial park in Luzerne County.

The affiliation with SOS will enable Coordinated Health to extend its successful model of coordinated care to the residents of the greater Scranton area. SOS employs the largest number of orthopedic physicians in the region, with 10 orthopedic surgeons, one rheumatologist and one podiatrist supported by 120 employees.

Like SOS, Coordinated Health prides itself on being physician-led and patient-focused. CH will collaborate with SOS physicians to develop future plans for growth.

“Coordinated Health shares a mutual admiration and respect for the reputation that has been built by the team at Scranton Orthopaedic Specialists,” said CH CEO Dr. Emil DiIorio. “We anticipate combining our shared depth of expertise with a passion for patient-centered coordination to bring an even higher level of care to Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
