While the prospect of facing breast cancer can be daunting, Breast Surgeon Dr. Cara Guilfoyle is always impressed with the strength... her patients summon.

Breast surgeon Dr. Cara Guilfoyle leads the celebrated Coordinated Health Breast Center with Dr. Mark Gittleman. The center won the 2015 Healthcare Hero award for women's health and wellness, a recognition presented each year by Lehigh Valley Business' independent panel of healthcare leaders to the person or group in the greater Lehigh Valley making the biggest difference in the field.

While the prospect of facing breast cancer can be daunting, Dr. Guilfoyle is always impressed with the strength and courage her patients summon.

“I always try to instill optimism in my patients and convince them that they have the confidence and strength they need to face breast cancer," she says. "In the moments of truth, when my patients are faced with the challenges of chemotherapy and surgery, they dig deep and find the strength to fight. To fight like any of these women is quite impressive."

Other conditions Dr. Guilfoyle treats include cysts, abscesses, and nipple discharge. She performs lumpectomies, mastectomies, lymph node biopsies, as well as minimally invasive biopsies.

In her spare time, Dr. Guilfoyle enjoys an array of outdoor activities including mountain biking, running and competitive adventure racing.

A Friend in Dr. Guilfoyle
“ My favorite doctor at CH is Dr. Gregg Guillifoylle. I was diagnosed with breast cancer this past Oct. I met Dr. Gregg in Nov. I found he was a reputable doctor who helped me physically. I soon learned he would help me emotionally as well. He turned out to be an amazing friend and a gifted doctor. He always listened and answered all my questions. For all these reasons he is my favorite doctor at CH. I would trust him with my life. He also has an amazing wife Dr. Cara who I have grown to care about tremendously. ”
