Allentown, PA (November 12, 2018) – Coordinated Health’s Allentown hospital has been named a five-star recipient for spinal fusion surgery for a second year in a row, according to a national study by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. The CH Allentown hospital is home to the Center for Advanced Spine Care, one of the largest and most comprehensive spine programs in the region.
“We are extremely proud to be the only team in the Lehigh Valley to achieve this level of surgical quality,” said Dr. Chris Wagener, CH Department Chair Orthopedic Spine Surgery. “Experience truly matters, and our staff’s combined expertise is the reason we are able to achieve better results and care.”
Patients who had their spinal fusion surgery at CH’s Allentown Hospital were nearly five times less likely to experience in-hospital complications, with the hospital achieving a 1.85 percent complication rate compared to the national average of 8.89 percent for spinal fusion.*
At the Center for Advanced Spine Care, a comprehensive team of spine specialists customize care to each patient for minimal pain and maximum mobility. The team of spine surgeons, pain management, physiatry specialists, chiropractors and specialized spine physical therapists provide the most advanced, proven protocols for back health.
This achievement is part of findings featured in the Healthgrades 2019 Report to the Nation, which found that clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals regionally and nationally. Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at almost 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.
The Coordinated Health Center for Advanced Spine Care can be found online at CoordinatedHealthSpine.com, where patients can request appointments, learn more about spine related conditions, meet the CH spine care team and understand treatment options. Patient appointment requests can typically be accommodated within 24 hours.
