Bethlehem, PA (November 6, 2018) – Coordinated Heath’s Bethlehem Hospital is one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement according to a national study by Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. The achievement is part of findings recently released in the Healthgrades 2019 Report to the Nation.
“For 30 years our surgical teams have worked relentlessly to always provide flawless orthopedic care and put our patients first,” said Dr. Wayne Luchetti, Chief of Surgery and Chair of Orthopedics at CH’s Bethlehem Hospital. “This award is recognition for years of dedication by a passionate team.”
The new report demonstrates how clinical performance differs dramatically between hospitals nationally, regionally and at the local level, and the impact that this variation has on health outcomes. Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at almost 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.
Patients treated at hospitals receiving the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement Award have, on average, a 63 percent lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award. And patients treated at hospitals that did not receive the award were 2.71 times more likely to experience a complication in the hospital than if they were treated at hospitals that received the award.*
“We couldn’t be more proud to be named among the top five percent of hospitals in the country for joint replacement surgery,” said Dr. Emil DiIorio, CH Chief Executive Officer. “Our hospital and physician teams truly are the best in the industry, and we’re happy that they are being recognized for their excellence in clinical outcomes.”
“Hospitals that have achieved the Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement have proven their dedication to quality care and exceptional outcomes,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Healthgrades. “Consumers should consider hospital quality when navigating their care journeys, and this recognition distinguishes Coordinated Health in the marketplace.”
