BETHLEHEM, Pa., July 28, 2016 — Coordinated Health (CH) announced today that its Bethlehem Hospital has earned a five star rating from a patient satisfaction survey conducted by Medicare.
Out of 4,599 hospitals included in the rating system, CH Bethlehem Hospital’s five star rating placed it among only 102 institutions, or the top 2.2 percent, of hospitals in the nation. CH Allentown Hospital earned a four star rating, placing it among the top 20.3 percent of hospitals in the country.
The ratings used quality data in 64 measures to arrive at a composite metric of one to five stars. Among the measures were considerations like hospital-acquired infection rates and complication rates after hip and knee surgery, along with satisfaction survey results. The survey factors in feedback from all patients, not only those with Medicare.
“These easy-to-understand star ratings are available online and empower people to compare and choose across various types of facilities from nursing homes to home health agencies,” wrote Dr. Kate Goodrich, director of the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality at CMS.
In Pennsylvania, only three other hospitals were awarded five stars, all of them outside the CH hospital network service area. Physicians at CH’s two hospitals provide services at multiple locations in eastern Pennsylvania and western New Jersey.
“I am incredibly proud of the physician-led teams of nurses, physical therapists, techs, and all staff who bring world-class care to our hospital patients every day,” said Dr. Emil DiIorio, CEO of Coordinated Health.
CH’s two hospitals are conveniently located at 1503 North Cedar Crest Boulevard in Allentown and at 2300 Highland Avenue in Bethlehem. Among their many recent awards are the Patient Experience and Safety Excellence Awards from HealthGrades, Top Performer on Key Quality Measures from The Joint Commission and Best Orthopedic Services from The Morning Call Readers’ Choice.
