Q: Welcome to Coordinated Health! Please tell us more about your background.
A: I was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Florida for high school. I completed my undergraduate degree in athletic training from the University of Florida, and then transferred to Rutgers for medical school. Sports medicine has always drawn me in because I was a wide receiver and runner in high school. Athletes are very motivated – they have a goal and they work hard to get to that goal. That’s how I’ve approached my life and career.
Q: Can you tell us a little more about your family?
My wife and I live in Bethlehem, and we are expecting a little girl. We chose to relocate to the Lehigh Valley because it was important to us to be near family. My parents still live in South Florida.
Q: Why did you choose Coordinated Health?
A: My wife grew up in Allentown, so when I saw the job description it definitely caught my eye. I reached out to Stephanie in HR, and she set up a video interview with Dr. DiIorio and Jim Tsokanos. I loved Dr. DiIorio’s philosophy about the sports-oriented practice, and how that helps athletes and workers get back to what they love.
Q: What will your role be at Coordinated Health?
Q: What do you enjoy about working with Spanish speaking patients?
A: When I worked at CE King High School in Houston, the population was predominantly Spanish speaking. A kid would get hurt, his parents would come in, and I would ask, “Hablas Espanol?” Their eyes would brighten immediately because they knew they had found someone they could relate to. That was very rewarding.
