The perfect tan is usually at the top of everyone’s to-do list during the summertime. But, unfortunately as we age wrinkles induced by the sun begin to catch up to us. There are endless over the counter creams and lotions that claim to reduce wrinkles and restore youth, but according to Coordinated Health Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Gregg Guilfoyle, one of the most efficient ways to get rid of wrinkles is Botox.

What is Botox?

“Botox, preparation of botulinum toxin, is an anti-aging treatment that helps fight fine lines. Botox works by relaxing the muscles in the face preventing the overlying skin from getting a crease or wrinkle,” said Dr. Guilfoyle.

Does it hurt?

“Botox is injecting into the skin through the use of a needle. Patients will experience pinpricks at the injection locations but can feel relief with the help of numbing cream or ice,” explained Dr. Guilfoyle.

When should I start considering Botox?

“You can use Botox at any age but typically I do not recommend it to patients under the age of 30,” said Dr. Guilfoyle.

How long will it last?

“Results last roughly four months but they depend on the area being treated and how long each person’s body metabolizes the treatment,” explained Dr. Guilfoyle.

How much does it cost?

“The cost corresponds with the amount used on the treatment but Coordinated Health offers monthly specials which typically include Botox,” said Guilfoyle.
