Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric (weight loss) surgery is an option for those who are severely overweight and have been unsuccessful in losing weight with sustained diet and exercise. Bariatric surgery is minimally invasive (performed laparoscopically through small incisions) and works by limiting the amount of food you can eat at one time and help you to feel full sooner.

Overview

The bariatric surgery program starts long before your scheduled surgery date. In fact, you’ll begin making weight loss progress several months before surgery as you begin making lifestyle changes with the help of our nutrition and fitness specialists. Nutrition and fitness counseling prepare you for both surgery and life after surgery. It is also required by most insurance companies.

Prior to surgery, you will also meet several times with your surgeon and discuss your surgery options. Our surgeons perform gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy procedures. The physician will help you decide which option is best for you.
