Center for Sports Medicine & Injury Care
Orthopedic surgery, pain management, physical therapy, and performance training
Sports medicine is concentrated on the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries that occur during athletic activity. Our sports medicine team at Coordinated Health, which is part of the Lehigh Valley Health Network, is comprised of orthopedic surgeons, non-surgical specialists, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and sports performance coaches.
We are proud to be the official sports medicine providers for Lehigh University and Lafayette College, the only two Division I schools in the region. Whether you're a pro-athlete or a weekend warrior, a student or a grandparent, our sports medicine team will provide you with the best care to get you back to doing the activity you love as quickly as possible.
When you should see a sports medicine specialist near you
It's common for athletes of all ages to sustain an injury at some point. If you've think you've broken a bone or otherwise had a serious injury, make an appointment with an orthopedic specialist as soon as possible (or skip the appointment and come to one of our walk-in injury centers!) You should also make an appointment with a sports medicine doctor if you experience pain that won't go away and is preventing you from doing the activities you want to do.
Reasons to see a sports medicine specialist include:
- A recent injury to the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, foot, ankle, hand, or wrist
- Joint pain accompanied by heat, swelling, and redness
- Gradually progressive pain that is worse with weight-bearing
- Severe joint pain that prevents you from doing the activities you want to do
- Nagging joint pain that might be related to an old injury
- Difficulty moving a joint
- Moderate or advanced arthritis
Experience excellence at Coordinated Health
Coordinated Health has more board-certified sports medicine orthopedic surgeons than anyone else in the region, and we’ve been the area's leader in sports medicine for 30 years. Our sports medicine orthopedic surgeons and primary care physicians are experienced in treating athletes and active adults of all ages, and the majority have advanced fellowship training in sports medicine. As former and current athletes themselves, many of our doctors have first-hand experience with sports injuries, making them uniquely positioned to relate to what athletes are going through and to manage expectations around recovery.
