General Surgery

Sten Kjellberg, MD, is a general surgeon with Coordinated Health.

Dr. Kjellberg has worked in private practice in Phillipsburg for 18 years. Additionally, Dr. Kjellberg served in Operation Iraqi Freedom as a Trauma Surgeon with the United States Army. He says that his decision to partner with Coordinated Health is in large part because he wants to foster real connections with his patients.

“Because of its specialization and size, Coordinated Health is a really nice fit,” says Dr. Kjellberg. "I can be one-on-one with my patients, as opposed to larger health networks where patients are often just a number”

Dr. Kjellberg enjoys working on his home on renovations, as well as spending time with his four daughters. He is also a motorcycle enthusiast who is partial to Harley-Davidsons.

Fast and painless
“ Experience with Coordinated Health and with Dr. Kjellberg was excellent. Making an appointment was easy, I did not have to wait long for appointments, and both the consultation and the surgery went fairly quickly. Dr. Kjellberg is friendly, patient-oriented and seemed genuinely interested in answering any questions I had. My surgery was minor and was done in the office with local anesthesia rather than in an operating room under general anesthesia as another surgeon had suggested. It was relatively painless and I was glad to be awake for the procedure so that I could tell what was going on. Everyone working at Coordinated Health was all smiles and friendly. This was my first experience with Coordinated Health. Based on this experience, I would recommend Coordinated Health and I would recommend Dr. Kjellberg. ”

Care above and beyond expectations
“ I went to visit my PCP Dr. M. Nimeh for my 6 month follow up. He kept feeling around my neck and then asked me if I recently had my thyroid checked, he ordered a Tsh which indicated that I was in hyperthyroidism (I had just about every s/s but attributed to other things) I was referred to Dr. Lakshmi Kannan and had several tests to determine why I was producing so much levothyroxine. I was told I had a rather large nodule on/ near my right lobe of my thyroid. After sitting down with Dr. Kannan to discuss options at length it would have needed to come out despite what a fine aspiration would determine because of its size , so I opted for surgery. I was referred to Dr. Kjellberg who agreed to first remove the r lobe and if pathology showed any cancer we would take the rest out. I was very fortunate, the surgery was successful without post op complications and the nodule was benign. After about a week I started to feel more focused, my eyes seemed to feel better, intolerance of heat was gone. I think back and I seriously thought I was losing my mind, one day so sleepy I couldn’t even pay attention to not being able to sleep for a couple days and very unfocused, I had some intermittent visual effects in which I thought I was going blind. Pending lab work, I may not even need synthroid eventually. Great work, because if I had the whole thyroid out I would need synthroid the rest of my life. Thanks team!!! ”
