Richard Miller, MD, FACOG

Richard Miller, MD, is a board-certified gynecologist with Coordinated Health, part of Lehigh Valley Health Network, practicing primarily Lehighton and occasionally in Hazleton. An accomplished specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, Dr. Miller brings more than 45 years of experience to his practice, and has delivered close to 8,000 babies. Now a full-time gynecologist, Dr. Miller specializes in the management of overall health services for women at every stage in life.

Dr. Miller previously worked at St. Luke’s Miner’s Memorial Hospital in Coaldale and Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital in Lehighton. He served as Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department at Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital and Chief of Surgery at St. Luke’s Miner’s Memorial Hospital for many years. He also saw patients at Sacred Heart Hospital in Chester and the Naval Hospital in Philadelphia. He served on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1970 to 1980 and was in the U.S. Naval Reserve for 29 years. Dr. Miller is a Retired Captain of the Medical Corps, USNR and a Past Commanding Officer of the U.S. Marines Medical Support Unit at the U.S. Naval Reserve Center in Lehigh Valley, PA.  

Dr. Miller was awarded a Congressman’s Medal of Honor in December of 1981 for emergency medical treatment he provided to a pregnant women. He was also selected by the Consumers’ Research Council of America as one of the nation’s top Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

“Having been a practicing physician for decades, I am grateful to have been able to treat generations of patients and provide individualized care for so long here in Pennsylvania,” said Dr. Miller.

Dr. Miller is a graduate of Lehigh University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree before continuing his education at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He then completed his internship and residency at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.

Dr. Miller has enjoyed coaching little league baseball and knee-hi football. He has also been a volunteer team physician for the Marian Catholic High School football team. He has three children and eight grandchildren.
